As a juggernaut food and drug company in General Santos City, the Brigada Healthline Corporation (BHC) strengthens its firm resolve to practice quality food safety management to bring high-calibre products to the public.

 

BHC underwent training on Food Safety Management, Halal Awareness and Packaging and Labelling last March 28 to April 1 at The Rock Garden, Brgy. Lagao, General Santos City.

The five-day training included subjects on Basic Food Hygiene and Handling (BFH), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) in Food Industry. Halal awareness and Halal Compliance and an overview on ISO:22000:2018 Food Safety Management System were also introduced.

 

Although rigorous, the lectures seemed to be a walk in the park with the brilliant 𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 of the resource person, Samerah B. Macabalang-Datudacula, MPA, MSc, the Lab. Manager of the ISO/IEC Accredited Laboratory of DOST and member of DOST 12 Food Safety team.

 

The company wants to ensure that its products and services meet the expectations of valued customers and are manufactured in accordance with applicable regulations and other health-related requirements. This is in covenant with the premiere goal of DOST 12 and Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan to promote food safety management, Halal compliance and product development in the whole Region 12 thru science, technology and innovation.

 

With the leadership of RD Engr. Malawan, the agency has been conducting series of seminars and trainings related to food safety and Halal awareness to interested entities including companies, business firms and livelihood associations.

 

“Truly relevant and timely”, said Chief Operations Officer Ms. Aimee Jean Abelis as she gave her warm thanks to the facilitators, to the resource speaker, to RD Engr. Malawan and to the DOST Region 12.

 

With the training completed, BHC is now looking forward to comply HACCP and Halal certification, the first steps on traversing the path to best quality food product manufacturing and services.
