As beneficiary of the DOST XII Grant-in-Aid Program for enterprise technology upgrading, members of Persons with Disability (PWD) of M’lang Association availed One Million (1M) pesos worth of equipment for their following projects: Upgrading of Bakery, Establishment of Water Refilling Station and Calamansi Juice Processing. Along with this, they also availed various trainings offered by DOST.
One of the Technology Trainings conducted exclusively for their members involve in production was "Calamansi Processing cum current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Food Safety. The said techno-training took place on April 18, 2022 at Brgy. Poblacion, Mlang, Cotabato. Joining the training were 16 PWDs, who will later re-echo the training to the other members of the Association.
The training covered a lecture on cGMP and Food Safety. It was then followed by a Demonstration for Calamansi Juice Processing and hands-on training on Calamansi Concentrate and Ready to drink Calamansi Juice.
After the hands-on training, the respondents/beneficiaries were very vocal in expressing their appreciation. The Chairperson of the association said: “Madamu gid na salamat labi na kay Engr. Malawan, PD Mayo sa kani nga project ug kani nga training. Sauna tan aw nila sa amon nga PWD mga wala pulos karun pwedi na kami makasugod sang amon nga business. Halin sa Bakery, water refilling, and kani calamansi Extractor na mga equipments halin sa DOST. Pasalamat gid ko kay wala kami ginpasagdaan sa taga DOST.”
Some of the members also expressed their appreciation: Respondent 1: “Daku gid amon pasalamat kay sa tanan, kami ang nahatagan ani nga training. Dati gatambay lang ako sa amon tungod sa akong situation. Karun, sa tabang sa DOST, sa kani nga training may pakinabang na ako kay pwedi naku maka negosyo.” Respondent 2: “Dali lang sya sabtun ang pagtudlo ug wala jud kami nalisdan sa pagsabot ug pagsunod sa process. Salamat sa kani nga training. Daku ni sya na bulig sa amon na mga PWD.”
PD Mayo said in his closing remarks, “We assure you after this training, magkaroon din ng training for packaging and labelling for tinapay, water bottles and calamansi juice. Andito lang po ang DOST handang tumulong sa inyo.”
