DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) Scholarship as one of the most recognized banner programs of DOST, conducts the 2022 Virtual Undergraduate Scholarship Orientation last July 21, 2022. United in one purpose to be oriented, 188 Qualifiers and Parents attended the orientation which objective is to inform the qualifiers and the parents of the ways moving forward as they begin their scholarship journey.

Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan through his Opening and Welcome remarks reminded the scholars to show humility and compassion to serve the Filipino community by doing their best in academics. On his statement he said, “the government made you a DOST scholar, laging isapuso at isabuhay na ang karunungang

aglay, sa bayan iaalay.” DOST Scholarship program prides itself in ushering the Filipino community into scientific, technological, and innovative future by producing excellent DOST scholar graduates.

 

DOST XII Regional Scholarship Coordinator Mr. Wahid A. Lucas presented the 2022 Undergraduate Scholarship Guidelines to enlighten the scholars of the opportunities and responsibilities of an Iskolar ng Bayan. Mr. Lucas also emphasized that a scholar can enroll in State Universities and Colleges and in Private Higher Education Institute that is recognized as Center of Excellence or Center of Development, their course must also be at least Level III accredited by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP), Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU), Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) and any accrediting institution in the Philippines. In addition, a scholar will receive PhP40,000 for Tuition and Other School Fees and PhP10,000 for Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance for Academic Year (AY). They will also receive PhP7,000 monthly Stipend, Thesis allowance of PhP10,000, Graduation and Clothing Allowance of PhP1,000, Transportation Allowance and Group Accidents Insurance. An open forum that interactively participated by the scholars with their parents were answered by Mr. Lucas and DOST XII Scholarship staff.
