In a meeting last July 6, 2021 with Mr. Jorge Estember, Chief of Staff of 2nd District of South Cotabato Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez, DOST XII Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, CESE has finally approved the proposed installation of the 5 Hydraulic Ram Pump water project in 3 sitios of Ned. Lake Sebu and 2 sitios in Laconon, T’boli, South Cotabato from the identified water source.

“It is our commitment to the less-privileged residents in the isolated sitios to give them of what has been promised. We in the DOST XII are committed in bringing S&T services and assistance to the most in need residents. Director Malawan stressed out.

“This is our humble response to their clamor of having potable water that is accessible by all residents.” Director Malawan added.

Approximately over 700 residents of sitio Blit, 150 in sitio Lamdel and 100 more or less in sitio Bago barangay Ned, Lake Sebu and 150 households in sitio Desikit and 300 households in Lamleting, barangay Laconon, T’boli, South Cotabato will benefit from the potable water project.

The identified sitios have been struggling for potable water for several years based on the evaluation conducted.

This hydraulic ram pump is a clever device invented over 200 years ago that can pump and filters water uphill with no other external source of power except for the water flowing into it.
