In response to request of the Philippine Army 39th Infantry Battalion, 10ID, DOST XII conducted site visit and evaluation for the proposed installation of Hydraulic Ram Pump to address limited potable water supply among residents of Brgy. Paraiso, Tulunan, North Cotabato.

DOST XII Regional Director Engr. Sammy Malawan, CESE sent Engr. Tamano Sacar, Science Research Specialist II along with team of PD Michael Mayo last May 5 to the proposed site for the purpose.

One hundred forty-two (142) households will benefit the said facility, once granted, according to Brgy. Capt. Regino Talingting Jr.

The barangay was once a conflict-stricken area and is currently under community development support of the 39th Infantry Battalion under the command of LTC Geofrey Carandang.

DOST, depending upon urgency, can provide Hydraulic Ram Pumps which are relatively inexpensive, can operate even without electricity and could last over a long period of time.

This particular endeavor is in line with the Executive Order 70 of ‘whole-of-the-nation’ approach in ending local communist armed conflict. ###
