LAKE SEBU – The Department of Science and Technology Region XII (DOST XII) vows to outspread its technology assistance to the residents of Sitio Blit, Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
DOST XII Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, CESE has pledged to give assistance such as technology trainings, equipment for food processing and other technology services and interventions during the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) Service Caravan held last January 29, 2021 in Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu.
"The assistance sought to improve the livelihood status of the residents through scientific based-livelihood projects." Director Malawan pointed out.
Director Malawan further added that DOST XII would also donate STARBOOKS to the geographically isolated schools like in Sitio Blit to improve the learning competency of students in its proponent schools.
STARBOOKS is an offline e-library in a box, the first Philippine science and technology digital library. A storage of encyclopedia, research, other S&T-based educational and science related learning resources in various formats that will provide a digitalized learning experience to students, teachers, researchers and other science-enthusiasts residents.
Secretary Isidro S. Lapeńa, PhD, CSEE, Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORD) XII and Director General of TESDA graced the event as Guest of Honor and Speaker.
The said ELCAC Service Caravan was led by TESDA XII and participated by various government agencies, military, police, barangay officials, local government units of Lake Sebu, provincial government of South Cotabato and the residents of Sitio Blit.
