COLUMBIO, SULTAN KUDARAT – Headed by Department of Science and Technology region XII (DOST XII) OIC-Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, CESE, D0ST XII has participated in the LOKAL SERBISYO CARAVAN to priority End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) Barangay Mayo, Columbio, Sultan Kudarat Province last December 7, 2020.
The said LOKAL SERBISYO CARAVAN was spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government region XII (DILG XII) participated by other government agencies. MS. ZENAIDA D. GUIANO, Senior SRS & Provincial S&T Director & other DOST XII staff.
This is the first time that DOST XII has participated in the municipality of Columbio, with no less than the Officer In-Charge gracing the occasion.
In his speech, he assured the local government that the activity would be just one of the many support activities to be provided by the Office to the LGU of Columbio.
In response, Columbio Mayor Edwin Bermudez expressed his gratitude to DOST XII for supporting the municipality of Columbio and would like to see more projects & activities by the office to be implemented in the area.
During the activity, brochures on PPAs of the pffice were distributed and various consultations were conducted, through Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH), the program on OFWS, was a major hit with the locals.
DOST XII has distributed some food products processed by Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) beneficiaries such as Calamansi juice produced by JEA Juicery, Bigas-Mongo (BIMON) snack foods by the Complementary Foods Facility of Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) & Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) and toasted bread enriched with veggies by Glorigen Food Products.
The LOKAL SERBISYO CARAVAN aimed to bring to the barangays the services of various government agencies and let the people in the localities eliminate their notion of government neglect. This will make them stir away from joining anti-government organizations and forces in their communities.
The aforementioned activity was in support to the Presidential Executive Order No. 70, s. 2018 aiming to end Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) in the country.
