KORONADAL CITY- Department of Agriculture (DA) Dir. Clint D. Hassan, Director for Consumer Affairs for Mindanao paid a courtesy meeting with Department of Science and Technology Region XII (DOST XII) OIC-Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan CESE at Philippine National Halal Laboratory and Science Center (PHLSC) here in Koronadal City.
The meeting aims for a possible collaboration project of the two (2) government agencies in the Halal Food Production and the utilization of PNHLSC laboratory and testing facilities.
Dir. Hassan was very thankful for the warm acceptance and accomodation of OIC-Regional Director Engr. Malawan.
"We are happy that the man sitting in the DOST regional office XII is a Halal advocate. The challenge is how we can come up to a Halal food and market-driven production." Dir. Hassan said.
"As long as I have time to talk to Director Malawan, we can have a startup project which will be replicated in other regions." Dr. Hassan added.
He further reiterated that the challenge for Mindanaoans is the production of Halal foods/goods.
"We need to have a partneship with DOST XII and do some Halal laboratory testing like water and other areas aside from farm inputs." Dr. Hassan pointed out.
DOST XII OIC-Regional Director Engr. Malawan expressed his gratitude for Dr. Hassan courtesy visit to DOST XII.
"We are glad for having partnership and ready for the possible collaboration with DA." Engr. Malawan said.
"We are proactive in a sense that we can bring S&T services directly to your office." Engr. Malawan explained.
The PNHLSC was inaugurated last February 25, 2019 at Barangay Paraiso in Koronadal City. The Halal Hub in the region is a first of a kind facility in the Philippines that can deliver best testing results.
The said Halal laboratory center envisioned in developing locally made products of Halal premium brands compliant with internationally accepted standards and requirements.
