The concluding message of OIC-Provincial Director Forester Nabil A. Hadji Yassin summed up Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan and the agency’s perpetual slogan as the Department of Science and Technology XII equipped the participants with indispensable knowledge in metrology through skills training held at Avior Hotel, General Santos City last August 2-3, 2022.
Thirty-one (31) attendees from each City and Municipal Treasurer’s Offices from the Local Government Units (LGU) of Sarangani Province and General Santos City received lectures during the conduct of the two-day Training on Verification, Inspection and Sealing of Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments and Fuel Dispensers led by the DOST XII’s team of calibration experts.
Metrology is applied in product quality assurance to ensure correct measurements of the products that are being circulated in the market through calibration using metrological instruments.
With these in mind, the DOST puts premium in advocating standard product measurements by extending its services in training LGU personnel on how to properly use the calibration instruments, as well as teaching the best practices in performing such tasks. Skillful calibration will lead to better results in production.
“Metrology is one of the vital components in production that captures consumer’s satisfaction. Products become cost-effective and are made to a higher quality”, explained by the speakers.
The participants coming from LGU-Alabel, LGU-Glan, LGU-Kiamba, LGU-Maasim, LGU-Maitum, LGU-Malapatan, LGU-Malungon, PLGU-Sarangani, and LGU-General Santos City also performed actual demonstration on how to properly use the instruments with the skillful coaching of Engr. Mohammad Naif Abdulazis and Engr. Abdul Jalil Malawan.
