Close to a hundred participated in the DOST XII Stakeholders Forum for the 3rd District of ‘North’ Cotabato Province on 20 April 2021 at 8th Avenue Convention Center, Kabacan.


Adhering to minimum public health and safety standards, the 88 participants were from the business sector/ Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and local government units/ LIEPO of the six municipalities of District 3: Banisilan, Carmen, Kabacan, Matalam, Mlang, and Tulunan.


Through the conduct of the said activity, DOST XII was able to convene relevant partners in the implementation of its S&T programs, projects, activities, and services (PPAs) relative to socio-economic development and gathered MSMEs interested to benefit from the DOST XII PPAs.


“With the persistent pandemic, it has been our resolve in DOST to all the more double our efforts in giving the people needed interventions,” DOST XII Regional Director Engr. Sammy Malawan said.


He added that the activity is part of DOST XII’s response to the call of DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña to strongly support the government’s ‘Rebuild PH! Revitalizing Businesses, Investments, Livelihood, and Domestic Demand’.


Vice-Governor Emmylou ‘Lala’ Taliño-Mendoza graced the forum as Keynote Speaker. She emphasized her support for DOST XII’s endeavors and encouraged MSME-participants to avail the agency’s PPAs.


Another esteemed partner of DOST XII in public service, Congressman Jose ‘Pingping’ Tejada, 3rd District Representative was also there during the activity and delivered inspirational message.


DOST XII PPAs which were tackled during the forum include the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), Technical Consultancy Services for Startups, Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST), OneSTore, among others. DOST XII Resource Persons include OIC-ARD for Technical Services Division Engr. Szalinah Mercado; Ms. Babai Tagitican, SRS II and Mr. Reynel Revilla, SRS I.


Given the significant number of participants, Provincial Director Michael Mayo acknowledges urgency to intensify S&T interventions for countryside recovery.
