To improve access to health-related information and to assist higher education and research institutions organize and manage their health institutional information, Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) hosted an online training under The Department of Science and Technology-Region XII Health Research and Development Information Network (HERDIN) Plus, January 26, 2021 via Online Zoom Platform.
St. Alexius College as an active member of Health Research and Development Consortium (HRDC) for Region 12 was chosen as one of the academic institutions that availed the HERDIN Plus training that was attended by 12 participants headed by Mr. John Franco Thomas, Executive Vice President of the school and the chairperson for the Research and Utilization Committee for HRDC XII.
DOST XII- Regional Director and also the Chairperson of the Governing Board of HRDC XII, Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, CESE was also heard during the activity as he gave his remarks that highlighted the importance of Information age and commended the efforts of how DOST find ways on how to innovate and ease the access to information.
Free and wider access to Filipiniana research, Access to local full-text journal article and Monitor the progress of research proposal submission are the important benefits and features of HERDIN Plus that was presented during the activity. Tutorial on how to create HERDIN Plus account, method presentation and data responses in data base was also discussed.
Mr. John Thomas C. Franco was able to share how the school as a leading allied sciences institution was able to research and continue to publish researches and said that he was delighted that HERDIN Plus was made and that their current system of organizing their papers can be improved.
