Processors of Kidapawan City Pasalubong Center were informed of DOST XII package of assistance during the said establishment’s Grand Reopening on 28 April 2021 at Kidapawan City Integrated Overland Terminal.
The pasalubong center had been temporarily closed for several months due to series of earthquake occurrences and the COVID-19 pandemic.
S&T Provincial Director Michael Mayo elaborated on the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and announced that DOST XII- Cotabato Provincial Office is always ready to assist local Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) within priority sectors.
Priority sectors include Food Processing; Agriculture & Aqua-Marine; Nutrition & Pharmaceutical; Metals & Engineering; Information and Communications Technology; Furniture & GDH (gifts, decors & handicrafts).
According to PD Mayo, Innovation System Support Fund (ISSF) will be provided among SETUP beneficiaries in the form of processing equipment.
He added that DOST XII also provides technical and consultancy services like Energy Audit, Cleaner Production, Food Safety including cGMP or current Good Manufacturing Processes as well as HACCP or Hazard Analyses Critical Control Point.
PD Mayo gave emphasis on Packaging and Labeling as critical factors to the marketability of food products which DOST XII can also be of assistance.
Interventions of DOST XII also cover product testing and analyses through its Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory in Koronadal City.
OneSTore.ph, an e-commerce web app especially intended for online selling of DOST assisted products nationwide was also introduced among entrepreneurs. PD Mayo emphasized that this is among the perks which DOST-SETUP beneficiaries enjoy and benefit from.
The Reopening of the Pasalubong Center was made possible through the city’s Investment and Promotion Office together with the Arts and Crafts Association and Entrepreneurs’ Association.
Said activity was also graced by the Provincial Director of DTI and Chairperson of SP Committee on Tourism.
