A quoted statement from Ms. Ensia B. Amino, president of Mโlang United Bangsamoro Women Association during the project monitoring of DOST XII - Cotabato Provincial Office.
Mโlang United Bangsamoro Women Association (MUBWA) is composed of 233 women members from the different barangays of Mlang municipality located at P-8, Bialong, Mโlang, is one of the beneficiaries of DOST-Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program last August of 2021.
A total of PhP 650,000.00 worth of equipment such as 10 Units of Singer Sewing Machine, 4 units of Juki sewing Machine, 3 units of Embroidery Machines, 24 rolls of all types of fabrics, 20 pcs Scissors, and 1 set of Tape Measure, 3 units of Edger Machine, to improve their operations and thus boost their productivity and competitiveness.
The enterprise has been producing garments and handicrafts such as long dresses, hijabs, rugs, face masks, beddings, uniforms (office and school), curtains, and bags.
3-day Training for Garments Making (Ladies and Mens Wear) was conducted to the aforementioned to utilize and maximize the technologies granted to them.
With DOST XII interventions, Mโlang United Bangsamoro Women Association was able to relatively increased the types of products they produced. With increased production, income generated by the enterprise expectedly increased as well.
Finished products like garments and handicrafts are tailored for customersโ preferences. As a result, the association penetrates the market not only in the province of Cotabato but in other provinces as well.
MUBWAโs aspiration to preserve the Muslim culture and the empowerment they endow to women makes MUBWA a community worth emulating and which stories are worth telling. ### (TA)
