A convergence to further promote the adoption of the DOST’s 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗦 in all elementary and secondary schools in the entire Cotabato Province was formally sealed.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the 𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐗𝐈𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐄𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 today, 20 October 2021 at the latter’s office at Capitol Compound, Amas, Kidapawan City.

STARBOOKS is an acronym for Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Station.

Known as the first Philippine digital science library, STARBOOKS is a compendium of S&T information gathered from all over the world, making it a one-stop S&T info source.

Accessible even without the internet, STARBOOKS is an effective tool for knowledge and learning resources in remote or far-flung areas, in barangays to as far as sitios.

Providing greater access to legit information on science, technology, and innovation, is not only recommended for students and researchers but designed as well for inventors, entrepreneurs/ start-up firms, and all sectors of society seeking relevant information and knowledge.

Contents include various disciplines on sciences including ICT, Agriculture, Medicine, Education, Engineering, Architecture, Geography and Anthropology, Archeology, Industry and Statistics, Social Sciences, Technopreneurship and Livelihood Technologies among others, available in various formats - text and video/ audio.

Officials personally present during the activity were the following: DOST XII Regional Director 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗺𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻, Schools Division Superintendent 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝘇, Assistant Superintendent 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘇, Board Member 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗻 representing Governor 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗰𝗼 and S&T Provincial Director 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼.

“Adoption of the DepEd- Cotabato Division of the DOST-STARBOOKS is a huge step towards the full rollout of the project in all schools in North Cotabato”, RD Malawan said, giving emphasis on the agency’s strategy of implementing the project in one fell swoop.
