May 3, 2023 | Communities in Cotabato are in for a treat as today, 11 beneficiaries signed a Memorandum of Agreement at RC Farm in Brgy. San Vicente, Makilala, Cotabato.

The MOA entails a comprehensive set of provisions that aim to promote livelihood opportunities, enhance connectivity, and improve living conditions for individuals residing in remote areas. These include the provision of equipment to support livelihood initiatives, Starlink internet access to boost connectivity, solar-powered water systems to address water scarcity, IEC equipment support including DOST-STARBOOKS to facilitate learning, and solar-powered lights to promote safety and security.

 


 

On the fifth leg of the much sought-out DOST-SEI Scholars Leadership Boot Camp 2022, 98 undergraduate scholars from the Eastern Mindanao Cluster engaged in a 3-day leadership training project of the DOST-SEI Filipino Patriot Scholars last October 23-27, 2022 at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City.  


    

    The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Office of the Undersecretary for Regional Operations (OUSEC-RO) organized the 3rd Quarterly Regional Directors’ Meeting last 30 September 2022 at Twin Lakes Hotel Tagaytay, Laurel, Batangas. The meeting centered on the alignment of DOST Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPA) to the 8-point socioeconomic agenda of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

 


 

The Complementary Food Processing Facility (CFPF) in Kidapawan is set to mass produce another kinds of healthy and nutritious research-based products especially formulated for children.

Located at Brgy. Magsaysay, CFPF is a collaborative project of the LGU-Kidapawan and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the DOST XII and the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) to combat malnutrition in 40 barangays of the city.

M’lang United Bangsamoro Women Association (MUBWA) is composed of 233 women members from the different barangays of Mlang municipality located at P-8, Bialong, M’lang, is one of the beneficiaries of DOST-Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program last August of 2021.

 


 

“We, in the DOST, will continue to be committed and aggressive in implementing our programs and services”.

 

The concluding message of OIC-Provincial Director Forester Nabil A. Hadji Yassin summed up Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan and the agency’s perpetual slogan as the Department of Science and Technology XII equipped the participants with indispensable knowledge in metrology through skills training held at Avior Hotel, General Santos City last August 2-3, 2022.

 


 

DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) Scholarship as one of the most recognized banner programs of DOST, conducts the 2022 Virtual Undergraduate Scholarship Orientation last July 21, 2022. United in one purpose to be oriented, 188 Qualifiers and Parents attended the orientation which objective is to inform the qualifiers and the parents of the ways moving forward as they begin their scholarship journey.


 

Department of Science and Technology XII (DOST XII) Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan graced the Pre-Commencement Exercises of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the Mindanao State University-General Santos City (MSU-GSC) on July 7, 2022 at the MSU-GSC Gymnasium. With great pride and honor, RD Malawan together with the MSU-GSC Officials, personally awarded Plaque of Recognition and Medal of Excellence to BERRY PATONONGON LAURON, a DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) Scholar, for his outstanding academic excellence by graduating the degree Bachelor of Science in Mathematics as SUMMA CUM LAUDE.


 

The Department of Science and Technology Region XII through the DOST Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office turned over 6 million worth of equipment to chosen beneficiaries in the province last 7 April, 2022 at the Department of Science and Technology Philippine National Halal Laboratory and Science Center, Brgy. Paraiso, Koronadal City.

The turnover, headed by DOST Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan CESE enjoined with DOST Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office Director Ms. Zenaida Guiano was attended by DOST staff and project leaders and beneficiaries of CEST and GIA Programs.


 

With the goal of empowering students who have little or no access to S&T information resources, the Department of Science and Technology Region XII, led by Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, empowered learners by providing STARBOOKS in 34 elementary and secondary schools in North Cotabato.

 


 

As beneficiary of the DOST XII Grant-in-Aid Program for enterprise technology upgrading, members of Persons with Disability (PWD) of M’lang Association availed One Million (1M) pesos worth of equipment for their following projects: Upgrading of Bakery, Establishment of Water Refilling Station and Calamansi Juice Processing. Along with this, they also availed various trainings offered by DOST.
