The regional office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in SOCCSKASARGEN has given out PhP47.6 million worth of innovation support this year, benefiting some 29 micro, small and medium enterprises.

Dr. Zenaida P. HR Laidan, DOST 12 regional director said these assistance were given to MSMEs through the agency’s flagship Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), which enables beneficiaries to address their technical problems through technology transfer and technological interventions to improve production and product quality.

The Department of Science and Technology XII (DOST XII ) thru the DOST-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), invites eligible proponents to submit commercially-viable and locally-developed R&D project proposals for CY 2017  for possible funding under  the  DOST’s Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNICOM) Program. 

NINETY-SEVEN (97)   graduating   elementary  pupils   from  SOCCSKSARGEN Region have  qualified  to  enroll  at  prestigious   Philippine  Science  High School of   the Department of Science and Technology  (DOST-PSHS).

Dr. Zenaida P. HR Laidan,  regional  director  of DOST  12 said these  students   were among those  who took  the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of PSHS National Competitive Examination (NCE) on October 22, 2016 and are  expected to  enroll  as   high school  freshmen (Grade 7 in the K-12  educational  system)  in   June.

Sixty-nine (69 ) third  year college students in SOCCSKSARGEN Region passed  the  2017 Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Program  which was simultaneously conducted nationwide last October 16, 2016.

Specifically, nineteen (19) passers were from General Santos City; seventeen (17) from South Cotabato; eleven  (11) from the province of North Cotabato; six (6)  from Sultan Kudarat; five (5) from Sarangani and  Koronadal City; three(3)  from Cotabato City  and Kidapawan City.

Fifty (50) of them passed the RA-10612; Ten (10) are Merit qualifiers; and six (6) passed the RA 7687.
